Orange is my favorite color I honestly don't know If this is a repeat, but what is the purpose of life? Monday we had an incredibly weird dinner, the dad didn't stop talking the whole time. His wife and daughter started ignoring him and started quoting spongebob at each other. We sat there super confused. But we had a good time, we also had a really good lesson with someone we have been teaching for a bit, she got baptized Saturday and so it was our last lesson beforehand. We read 2 Nephi 31 with her. It talks all about what we can do to draw closer to Christ, and be better people. It's a good scripture I would recommend it immensely. Also we made a gingerbread house that night, elder Williamson got it from his family. It was a blast. However I learned that I can't believe it's not butter does not have the same cooking properties as real butter. The things you learn on a mission.  Tuesday we biked up a hill they use for Olympic qualifiers to get ...

Thanksgiving was great, but now it is time to #LIGHTTHEWORLD

Image
Jesus Christ visits the Americas and teaches them quite a bit, see 3 Nephi 9 for more detail.  I am writing this at 6 in the morning so I can't think of a question, so what is my favorite color? I don't think i introduced Elder W my new companion. He is from Provo Utah, he just graduated from high school, and loves sports, especially golf. He has been in the area for one transfer. He also is fairly tall. He has a pair of brothers, and his Dad works at BYU. As for Light the World, the church is putting out this sweet thing that EVERYONE can do. It is basically doing 25 acts of service over the 25 days until Christmas. So you get to do what Christ did, instead of just talk about it. Visit mormon.org for more information.  As for my week, what fun! I bought a box of cereal, just to get the color changing star wars spoon that came with it. And i got the one I wanted, R2-D2. With that start, there was no way the week could go bad. Also while I was...

Prospect Park on a Bike

What we do in temples is make more covenants, or promises, like at baptism, with Heavenly Father. One of them is getting sealed to our families, for time and all eternity. This week, who visits the Americas in the Book of Mormon? Mom I made my first batch of cookies Monday, and the oven burned them pretty good on the bottom so that was super sad. But the tops are delicious! Also we were out walking around a neighborhood and a member gave us a call and asked, do you want some cake? And we were like sure, what's it for? And he said, oh me and my wife just wanted cake and when you are an adult you can just go but a cake. Also the Christmas initiative is coming up, and we are starting to show the video at dinners, have you guys back home seen it? It should be a very fun Christmas. Tuesday I was so fried, I was super stressed and saying goodbye to people was not fun, I like them. Thankfully after transfers the stress went away.  Prospect Park is an intere...

Halloween was weird

We feel happy when we diligently do missionary work, because we are becoming more godlike, God's purpose is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man ( Moses 1:39 ), as we participate in that work, diligently, we can feel that same joy that he feels (from D&C 18 ), how great it is What book does this talk about? "This book is a record of God’s dealings with ancient inhabitants and contains the fulness of the everlasting gospel. The book was written by many ancient prophets by the spirit of prophecy and revelation.    The crowning event recorded in this book is the personal ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ.  It puts forth the doctrines of the gospel, outlines the plan of salvation, and tells men what they must do to gain peace in this life and eternal salvation in the life to come, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, We invite all men everywhere to read this book, to ponder in their hearts the message i...

Johnny Lingo, A Blimp,

Bad things happen to good people because life isn't supposed to be easy, Elder Pingree said in his talk "Our trials help us discover and prepare for the work Heavenly Father has for us. Alma explained, “After much tribulation, the Lord … made me an instrument in his hands” (Mosiah 23:10). Like the Savior, whose atoning sacrifice enables Him to succor us (see Alma 7:11–12), we can use knowledge gained from difficult experiences to lift, strengthen, and bless others." See his talk hither,  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2017/10/i-have-a-work-for-thee?lang=eng The question for this week is why does missionary work bring such joy? As for last Monday, someone found a hidden gem on LDS media library, we watched Johhny Lingo, and I was so excited! http://mediasrv.lds.org/mediaservices/ML/size/1030847785001/640/480/1538283 Evan's view of the blimp Tuesday was super sweet because we got a call from New York, a set of Elders there gave us a ca...

Facebook, smartphones, and exercise

The Jaredite nation, we read in Ether 1:43, "And there will I bless thee and thy seed, and raise up unto me of thy seed, and of the seed of thy brother, and they who shall go with thee, a great nation. And there shall be none greater than the nation which I will raise up unto me of thy seed, upon all the face of the earth. And thus I will do unto thee because this long time ye have cried unto me." Sorry USA, not quite the best ever.   In light of recent events why do bad things happen to people like natural disasters? Zone conference was all about prepping us to use technology, and how we need to remember that we are here to help others come unto Christ. It is very interesting having that access to the world. A bit freaky. But after that we have our smartphone, it is a samsung so i am used to the operating system which is super nice, Elder M keeps double tapping the home button to try to change screens but instead it takes him to the camera. But it i...

Tumbleweeds, Facebook, Mosquito

Image
Spoken word has more power behind it, but it is a lot easier to study written words. This one is a bit interesting, what is the greatest nation ever? Monday night we had to run down into Muscoy to help a lady secure some stuff from the winds, it was crazy there was garbage cans blown down the streets tipped over, with trash everywhere. Also TUMBLEWEEDS! Those things are incredibally annoying and poky. At this point I have had to use Spanish twice now to talk to people and I have had varying degrees of success. I was talking to him about soccer, it was great fun. In district meeting we had a lesson to prepare us for the technology changes coming our way. We have a new two pages about online proselyting in the missionary handbook, and we have a two page change to Chapter eight in preach my gospel so we know do all of our planning a little bit. Probably the highlight of the meeting though was during a roleplay. One missionary was telling how he saw a couple ki...
