The bike is back in town! 11/26/2018

Image
I am going back to bike! Our area is splitting so I am losing Rialto 2nd ward and the car, I am more sad about losing the Rialto 2nd family. But I am on bike in the winter, just liked I wanted. Fun times ahead! Thanksgiving was great, we started off by making food plates for homeless people, we also went to the bishops storehouse multiple times, helping people get food for their Thanksgiving. Then for our Thanksgiving we had a Samoan one, and just had a lot of meat and soda.  We did not have very crazy week, we kinda just drove all over town meeting people, and having lessons fall through, it was super busy of just regular mission stuff -Elder Bearman  The holiday season is great I am ready to pound round town Light the world, yeah baby

Dance Party and Bear Food 11/19/2018

We had a relief society event that we went to, it was awesome. All of the relief society made crafts and put it in display then the men all displayed their talent in dance and singing. It was probably the best dance I ever went to the Samoans never do anything halfway. We went to a really sweet sandwich place as well, their theme is bears eating sandwiches, they have cream soda, as well as a flavor called Bear Blood which is really good, it's pomegranate, and all you can eat soft serve, so I put the vanilla in the cream soda and it was divine.  We went out with a priest from the Colton 1st ward, and after our lesson the priest just kept dropping names of young men he knew but didn't see at church anymore, so we went and stopped by them so it was super cool to see him thinking of seeing how the people he knows are doing.  We also went out on visits with our ward mission leader and we had every door we knock on open, so we got to meet quite a few members that w...

You can dance if you want to 11/12/2018

This week the highlight was definitely practicing with the Rialto 2nd Elders quorum for the dance they are preforming at a ward party on the 17th. It was a lot of stomping and smacking and it was sweet. The only downside is that it is hard for us to sing along, because the song is like a nation favorite, so they don't need the words, and so we end up just trying to mimic what they are singing.  We also bought 9 lbs of meat at costco, last week, Elder T likes eating meat, so I infidelity have been eating a whole lot of bacon. Also we had pizza with BBQ pull pork on it. It was fantastic. We also finally got back in with the family that dropped us a month back, they said that they loved having us come over, but they don't want to read the Mormon book anymore. So that was a super bummer, she did say that she would come to church just to see what it was like. In other news I went on exchanges to the other Samoan Elders again, and at 5 in the morning their fire alarm ran ...

Watermelon is a good idea 11/5/2018

Image
Last Monday we were invited to carve pumpkins, however we decided that you can carve a watermelon and actually eat the insides. So that was what we did and it was a big success, so much so that I will probably carve watermelons the rest of my life, we also made watermelon juice with all of the juice we squeezed out.  We got to go to two Halloween parties because we cover 2 wards. Colton 1st had their party the day before Halloween, it was a tri-ward event and it had hundreds of people, we then got to display our watermelon to the adoring public. The Rialto 2nd ward had theirs more focused to the kids so we were able to talk to parents for 2 hours while the kids ran around, they also had a cotton candy maker which definitely was a plus.    We also were able to do some super fun service, a member had a deck that was falling apart, so we got to help them demolish the deck. Destroying things is way too much fun.  Then I went on exchanges with the Inland E...

Elder T talked to TWO Elder Bearman's at once 10/29/2018

One night after Elder T couldn't sleep like all week and so when we woke up at 6:30 he was super delirious. During our planning in the morning, I would ask him a question, then he would doze of while thinking about it, I would wake him up and ask him again, and he said sorry, I got distracted talking to you in my dream. So we decided that he needed a bit of a nap. It was a fun 30 minutes though because he was carrying on two different conversations with two different mes at the same time.  Then we had a really good zone conference where we talked about keeping commitments and how to properly invite people. What really stuck out to me the most was how we need to be clear about what we are telling the people.  Also we spent 4 hours at urgent care on Friday, it was a whole lot of fun.  -Elder Bearman Two are better than one This week was kinda run o'the mill We got flu shots, yipee Us at zone conference I found a sign that said Maryland

One Big Surprise 10/22/2018

Over the course of your mission you learn many life lessons, this week I learned that Burger King  nuggets, taste way better if you take them home and fry them a little longer, we had leftover oil from frying tacos, so I gave it a whirl and what a good choice! So last week we learned that someone in the Rialto 2nd ward wanted to get baptized after previously hating the church, long story short, she was about to move to Oregon and take her husband with her to run away from the church so neither of them could get baptized, and then she was told by the spirit to stay and get baptized, we were told that a week ago, and we had never had a lesson with them. So after scrambling around all week, including having over enthusiastic members stop by and congratulate them and so they almost called of the event, spelling there names wrong (which is a major faux pass in Samoan culture), not having a single lesson with them, cleaning the baptismal font, arranging for an interview with the m...

6 more weeks with Elder T

Mules Probably the most exciting thing that happened was we went on exchanges with the other Samoan companionship and so of course we ended up having a full conversation with someone in Spanish, he was from Texas and grew up around a lot of Spanish, so we were able to introduce ourselves and ask if it would be alright for missionaries that could speak Spanish better could come by so that was cool. Saturday and Sunday were also super eventful, we started off by being invited to a buffet over in Redlands by our Bishop because is daughter went to the temple in preparation for leaving on her mission on Halloween. Since we had a lesson later that evening with him over in Highlands which is even further outside the zone, we were able to go. The Samoans don't like change and a less active member and a friend we are teaching live over in highland but don't want to go to the Samoan ward that usually covers that area. So we went to that lesson and the person we are teaching sai...
