The star of this week... JENNY!

This week was a week where the attention was on my bike, Jenny. It started off well with friday the first super hot day pushing 114, where I ran over a staple. So I picked them out of my tire, and the tube seemed to be holding air. Then we went out biking and the heat expanded the tires letting all of the air out. So after limping back to the apartment, and patching it up, back out we went. However my tire lost all of its air again, so figuring that I am a dingus and can't patch tires I tried to repatch it. Well it lost its air again, and I discovered that the heat was just melting the glue to my patches so that was wonderful. So then an awesome member bailed us out. Let us come inside, water and cool off while he patched the tube and put in a different one. Then the new tube started losing air, because the piece that seals the air in the valve came loose. So we biked back and fixed that. All of that over three days. So there was alot of time spent in the garage :) BUT...we m...

We Tie Dyed Baby!

Image
In honor of the 4th we tie dyed some shirts, it was alot of fun, we are going around today all matched up. Mom, my self haircut worked out again. It took an hour total and a little help in the back. I am pretty much a professional now. In other news we had about 4 new people move into the ward so we were biking around quite a bit, trying to introduce ourselves. We actually did a lot of biking around trying to introduce ourselves to members. That has been a big focus in the past couple of months in the mission field is getting to know and helping and working with the members.  This week we also baked a cake for a returning members birthday, we biked to the store bought the mix. Baked the cake and biked with it to there house, it was a lot of fun. They also had misplaced there turtle so we looked for him for 15 minutes    Also fireworks are pretty illegal everywhere in California. Except in Fontana, we have been told it looks like a war zone on the 4...

Paperwork

Image
This week was a lot of paper work. What fun! Besides that nothing to much happened. So this one will be blissfully short. We had a note about someone to stop by, but there was no background so we knocked and he had no idea what we were talking about. So we sat there and had no idea what to say so we said bye and left. We called about a billion people, so that was super fun. We also met a guy who's nickname was Ringo, because he looked like the drummer for the beatles, he was quite the character. We have a super sweet service opportunity, we help a guy clear out his backyard, and this week we tried to fit tires on his car, but the rims were wack, then we helped move his mercury. Not much here, maybe next week Elder Bearman  Tom is quite the guy We biked all over town, its hot Elder H has got fire!

Back on Bike Baby!

Image
Elder R got transferred out because he fractured his wrist, so that was super sad. On the other hand that meant we could go out on bike again which was a blessing. We met our downstairs nieghbor recently, Lajonda, she is super cool and actually went to the cherry blossom festival this year! Elder H came to Baseline all the way from 29 palms, by the military base. He has been out for 4 and a half months. He is from Roosevelt, Utah. He made cabinets for his job prior to the mission. Also Elder W is back in town! From way back at the beginning of the year in Prospect park! He also is in the district and so I will be able to go on exchanges with him. I talked with him a little bit already, reminiscing about the good old days. We did service at Al's, he is the hoarder of cars, we were there fort 3 hours moving a Buick, by the end we were described as "looking like a neopolitan" because I am white, the dirt was brown, and I also got a little sunburnt.  ...

Frustration with medical care

Image
I just wanted to say that I am kinda ticked that the capitols waited for me to go on a mission before winning the cup but, I would like to request some swag! Last Monday night Elder R and I crashed into each other, I am fine and the bikes are fine. Elder R hurt his wrist, so we iced and wrapped it, nothing to exciting, but after it didn't clear up by Friday, we went and spent 4 hours at urgent care trying to figure out insurance and paperwork, which was LOVELY. It turns out he fractured his wrist which made me really sad for many reasons, one of which being that he had to get transfered out. I will really miss him. So that threw off the rest of the week because we couldn't bike, so we were pounding the pavement, which was alot of fun. We were able to chat with even more people then when we bike around.  We were able to do a lot of planning and studies while we were inside though. The sisters who cover our area, had to push back there planning day, and so th...

So many interesting things happened this week, I can't make a cheesy subject line!

Also no pictures of me, I failed The people in our district got whacked hard by ailments this week, I am fine but 4 out of the 6 other missionaries in the area got various illnesses. I also cut my hair last week with the help of a roomate, it turned out not too bad. Next time the goal is to do it quicker. last week we also played one of those board games that takes hours to complete, it was awesome, but is the reason behind the crummy emails, lo siento. We had a really great talk in sacrament meeting about teaching in the family, and how parents just need to do the small things and set an example. It was perfect for our investigator... Who wasn't there. But we were able to take the member to a lesson with them and he was able to give an abbreviated version to them and it was awesome. Members are pretty sweet. We also were biking around and there were these two big dogs that had gotten out of there fence and were running around, and I went to go get in front of...

Home Made Pepper Spray

Image
We had zone sports, which is one three zones come over to fontana and we play sports, it was drizzling and it was awesome! We played soccer which is always enjoyable, we also played football, meh. I learned something interesting by the spirit recently. A member we were having a lesson with asked does the spirit get louder when we are more righteousness? And we came up with an object lesson where we made lots of noise, and each time we repented we took a noise away and he could hear the person talking to represent the Holy Ghost, and the Holy Ghost never gets louder, you just silence the distracting noise of the world. We felt the spirit!  Food news, I made pupusas, had the best quesadilla ever, had a neopolitan shake at In-N-Out (it was great), also Elder R was sautéing chili peppers and smoked us out of the apartment.  We also went back to Redlands to get a loaner bike for me while my bike is in a shop, so I got an ancient mission road bike, named pikachu, ...
