84 Degrees is nice

It has been unusually warm this week, it was in the 80's twice, and then I hear the rest of the country is enjoying a bit of a cold spell. Bummer

The Book of Mormon is powerful evidence of the divinity of Christ. It is also proof of the Restoration through the Prophet Joseph Smith. That is why we are so pushy with it, it helps people understand what in the world we are saying.

The question for next week is rethorical, what are your new years resolutions? and if you don't have any get some.

Last week was Christmas and it was great fun, we got to skype home and our ward mission leader let us borrow his house which was really nice. Afterward one of his daughters got a magic set and so she treated everyone to a magic show, she was pretty good. They also got a mini laser tag set with 6 guns so we may have played a couple rounds of that with them.

The Christmas season was pretty amazing, the service that we got to do and that the ward members were doing was awesome. The primary got in on it too and the kids were doing nice things too. Now the real trick is keeping up the service throughout the year and not just doing it for #LightTheWorld. 


We had a pretty good district meeting where we talked about success and what it means to be a succesful missionary. It was pretty cool because we learned that success appears 23 times in the Book of Mormon and 17 of those are in the Book of Alma which is missionary work centeral. And the thing that stuck out to me is that our success is based on whether we gave people the knowlege and ability to change. The rest is up to them because agency means that people can make their own choices. 

*Rant warning!*
We recently had a conversation with a wonderful Seventh Day Adventist lady. She was interesting because she thought she knew a lot about the LDS but from what she said, she really didn't. Her idea is that we are a bunch of sheeple, which is hilariously not true, she kept saying hierarchy and the rule makers and such. But the reason we follow these rules is because we choose to because we have faith they are inspired and that as we have lived them they have a positive effect on our lives. Another thing she was big on is saying after your mission you can find out for yourself, and we kept thinking, what if we have already found out for ourselves, she never asked and she never understood that we believe in personal revelation too. And she also kept referring to skeletons in the closet we didn't know about and we were like honey, there is nothing we don't know about, because if she could find it that means others can and they would bring it up all of the time, when trying to bash with us. But at least we learned a little bit about what she thinks and what others might think. That was my rant 

On the funny side we were out and about and a lady pulled up next to us on our bikes and said I know you aren't supposed to accept money but here you go, get some lunch. Usually we don"t take the money as it is against the rules, but she was a big Tongan lady and she wasn't taking no for an answer so we ended up taking it and giving it to fast offerings. Shout out  to Elder Bethke in Tonga, Tongans are pretty awesome. We actually have a tongan ward in our mission. I would not mind serving there.

We had a couple of really good visits this week where we were able to get back into contact with people we haven't heard from in a while, and we were able to answer questions about what exactly we believe. We were able to talk to a lot of people on the streets as well this week, and for anyone who knows about or has been to San Bernardino that is a great time.  This week we had a long pday activity where we hiked up in the mountains. And that's a Transfer!

Leaving Space for Jesus I did it, I made it through a Transfer [ a six week period after which one or both missionaries in a pair are moved to a new location]  without my trainer acting on his impulse to strangle me, it can be done! We come from the Premortal life , ask your local Mormon about that one What is the difference between hope, belief, and faith? The Zone activity was a blast, we had hamburgers, unfortunately over the course of the week we became less thankful. Steak and hamburger, way too much. Too much. We went to visit Sister C an older lady in the ward, it turns out she was hilarious, we noticed she had a roommate to watch over her and help her, and so we decided to teach the Restoration and her roommate decided to listen in and she ended up asking questions, and she is now an investigator. All you can eat KFC 2/4/2019

Last Monday we heard rumors about a buffet, all you can eat KFC out in banning, so we went out and snooped around. IT IS TRUE! It was 10 bucks and they had it all out on buffet so it was a lot of fun, nomming on 10 pieces of chicken (it eventually started to taste like nothing but grease and fat, so we stopped). It was a good time, and I am good on KFC for a long time. I like Popeyes way better anyway. We had a really good week of getting in contact with people we haven't had contact with for quite a while, as well as people we were just trying to get in contact with. So it was really nice to sit down, chat with them, and see how they are doing. We were also able to have a family home evening with a family we are teaching and it was a lot of fun to do object lessons with them, and see the light go on so to speak as it helps them make the connection.
