All you can eat KFC 2/4/2019

Image
Last Monday we heard rumors about a buffet, all you can eat KFC out in banning, so we went out and snooped around. IT IS TRUE! It was 10 bucks and they had it all out on buffet so it was a lot of fun, nomming on 10 pieces of chicken (it eventually started to taste like nothing but grease and fat, so we stopped). It was a good time, and I am good on KFC for a long time. I like Popeyes way better anyway. We had a really good week of getting in contact with people we haven't had contact with for quite a while, as well as people we were just trying to get in contact with. So it was really nice to sit down, chat with them, and see how they are doing. We were also able to have a family home evening with a family we are teaching and it was a lot of fun to do object lessons with them, and see the light go on so to speak as it helps them make the connection. In other news, on sunday, we stopped by a member and they were just getting home from dairy queen. They had cherry di...

My Tablet is working improperly 1/28/2019

So I am emailing from a different device, so I don't have the contacts, or pictures, or notes from the week! We discovered the whole town of Yucaipa and Redlands is related. There is one family that they have three in my current ward, and one in prospect park, and some in 2 other wards. There is another family that is in every ward in Yucaipa. These two towns are interrelated like crazy.  We went on exchanges, and I got to meet an exchange student from Brazil, and the Elder I was with actually served in Brazil for two transfers before transferring over here so he actually faile portugues. We also had some really awesome lessons, where we were able to answer questions about the Book of Mormon. And finally I met an Apostle, Elder Christoffersen, it was an awesome experience. I have never been so excited to shake someone's hand and be talked at. Probably the biggest things that I took away from it is that as we go about, we should spread goodwill as we go, and how mi...

Rain can't stop us! 1/21/2019

This week it rained some more, but Elder L and I didn't care and went and mobbed the streets anyway, it was so much fun! Our celebration for getting soaked, was we made ovaltine, oreo and vanilla ice cream milkshakes. In other food news, we made crock pot chili because of the cold weather and that was one of the best ideas I ever had. I also was able to go on exchanges back to Redlands, which was so much fun! I love the Redlands zone so much, and I got to be with Elder S which was one of my LaX [Lacrosse] buddies last time I was in Redlands. We even played LaX for morning exercise, it was so much fun. This week we had a lot of our plans derailed by service, but that was alright, because we got to help people anyway, there is a lot of elderly people in our ward so we help them out quite a bit. Sacrament meeting news, I gave a talk on how recognizing and understanding the spirit can influence our decisions. It went alright but was kinda scattered because that is the way...

Yucaipa 1/14/2019

I love my new area a lot. Yucaipa has a really cool small town feel, it doesn't have a walmart, and it has quite a few trailer parks. They had a ward boundary change,  just last sunday. T hey used to be Yucaipa 5th, but now they are the Wilson creek ward. So I was there for the first time with quite a few of the members, one even was wearing a kilt. My new companion Elder Lis a champ, he has a been from Lehi, utah, and has been out for longer than I have.  Last PDay when I was still in Colton, we actually went to Yucaipa, we visited a restaurant that is super popular, Angus McCurdy, they have a burger with a 1/3 patty, some bacon, and tri tip, and you can order a single, a double, a triple, or even a quad, it turns into an obscene amount of meat. Our adventure for the week, was we were biking up a hill and Elder L changed gear mid pedal and the chain got bent out of shape and broke. Thankfully we were almost to our appointment and there was a member who lived like 3 ...

I will be staying in the valley 1/7/2019

I am getting transferred, I am staying on bike though, so for those rooting for my weight gain, you will be sadly disappointed. I am going to be biking on rolling hills, in Yucaipa.  To start off this week, we had new years! We had an apartment deep clean, so we got on it, we scrubbed the bathtub floor until it was no longer black! The apartment feels alot roomier and, nicer. Also in the Elder Bearman learns about the world, Elder Bearman wanted to make a pecan pie, but Elder Bearman then discovered that pecans are super expensive. There ended his dreams. Also, it was super windy, so we called Walmart and asked if they sell ski masks, and they put us on hold for a bit, then sent us to pharmacy so 0 out of 10 on yelp for walmart call service. This week has been good for missionary work though, we have been able to visit and get to know the members quite a bit, because we still didn't know them very well, especially when we are trying to introduce people to the ...
