Cowboy for a day (more like 2 hours)

This week has beem exciting. For started Elder F is navigating us around town, so it is fun to go on scenic routes and leave our area (only once). But we had exchanges on Friday and they returned alive so that was awesome.  Wednesday we had zone conference and that was fun because I got to see Elder W again! He is doing great in Yucaipa. We also learned all about Joseph Smith and why he is so relevant, as well as how we need to invite people boldly and with love. We also we were not able to meet with an investigator this week because of scheduling, so we just took a video of what we planned to share with them and sent it on over via messenger, so it was cool to use technology to have a sort of lesson where we otherwise wouldn't have been able.   We had our monthly lesson with D and we invited her to be baptized, and she said yes! We then invited her to decide on a date she would work toward, and we will see what she comes up with. Then we started exchange...

Elder F made it through a week with me!

Last monday was pretty tame, all that we really did was get Elder F’s bike situation situated. We had a district meeting and there is 3 Elders in the district that came out with me, and we get to go on exchanges with two of them, Elder S and Elder B. It should be immense fun, I am looking forward to Friday. But we learned about how we can help investigtors actually learn from the scriptures. We need to not spoonfeed them the answers, we need to instead ask them questions so they can figure it out for themselves. The problem is that is a lot harder than spoonfeeding. Valentines day we did service where we went to a senior citizen Valentines day party, and chatted with them. MIssionary work is not quite what I thought it was. I have discovered what my favorite type of donut is. Someone was moving into the ward, and after we helped they had donuts, and these buttercream bars are just way good. I have been reading through the epistles from Paul to the various peoples acro...

The worth of a life is greater than a birthday cake

Last monday we played pickleball, which I actually am a fan of. I guess I am old.  But we also had dinner with F who made fried chicken, and it was delicious. He is a great fellowshipper for L, he is very good at keeping things real. When we invited L to get baptized she asked S, what do you think, and he runs in from cooking dinner and yells at her "THIS IS YOUR DECISION DON'T LOOK AT ME, DON'T LOOK AT S, THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM" then walks back into the kitchen. He is a beast, we stopped by on Sunday to introduce another member to her, and we walk in and he is watching the super bowl, and he says to us "I am not turning this off, so you better have the lesson outside. It was hysterical, we had the lesson on the porch and we could hear him hooting and hollering, and screaming about cheating. And when it was over, we went in and he was so happy, so we knew that the Eagles won, which is cause for national celebration.  But L is doing great, she passed her i...

Zone Activity was Golf at a Mansion

Image
This email if fairly long, so if you don't like these sorta emails, you should probably just delete it. I think I have mention it before but Redlands is very affluent, to my knowledge there is two mansions that are owned by organizations, that host events, we do service at both. Kimberly Crest and Burrage mansion, are super nice, we did golf at the burrage mansion, they have more land, and on it is a three chipping and putting greens. They were thanking us for all the service we do there. We also played wiffle ball which was loads of fun. On the topic of service we also did homeless count for the county, where we woke up SUPER (read annoyingly) early and went and got assigned an area and we went walked around for an hour and a half and counted two homeless people. But at least they had tasty donuts when we got back. We had multiple awesome lessons with L this week, like 5, and she has learned all she needs to get baptized. We are just going to review and read the Book ...

I have been invited to baptise someone in 4 years!

It was an interesting week, but that is every week as a missionary. A member took us to a golf course last week, because he is fairly wealthy and Elder Williamson loves golf. I made par twice so I am pretty much a professional. We also had dinner with one of my favorite families, every time we have dinner they talk about the weirdest things, this time it was whales. And every time it ends with Brother G saying I would rather be homeless than spend eternity with these two, and the wife says, we can arrange that. They are so funny, because that is how the diner always end. Trust in marriage.  The first presidencay announcement thing was fun. I am excited to hear from Elder Oaks more often. His talks are a bit doctriny but since I am on a mission that makes me pretty stoked. The Q&A was hilarious, I really liked their answer to the Church's stance on LGBT talking about the love of God and the Law of God. People should really watch that so they too can know understand what...
