Red Light, Green Light
This week was bothersome because there was a chance of rain
every day pretty much, but it only ended up raining twice. Tender mercies of
the Lord. I have learned that when biking the parts that get soaked are a
straight line up your back, and the top of your thighs.
But in other news there is an Investigator who is on date
for Cinco de Mayo! That is the day I was baptized! Twins! Hopefully Aaron can
make it.
Also this week Elder F blew a big hole in his tire.
It was pretty awesome, it took about 10 seconds to go completely flat. He had a
cm long slash in his tire and his tube. We had to walk back to the house we had
left about 10 seconds before and ask for a ride back to the apartment.
On Friday I got a sniff of MD air. Some one actually went to
DC for a business trip and he offered to stop by my house! So I gave him some
Redlands oranges, which are pretty legendary and he took them on over and
brought back a Tupperware of homemade cookies! With MD air inside as well. I
definitely ate all of them in personal study.
We also had an interesting experience where we were biking
by the University of Redlands, off of University St and a motorcyclist waved us
over and asked about the Sunrise Apartments. His directions were it was next to
the college off of University. Fun fact, the Sunrise apartments are off of
University Pkwy next to CSUSB and is actually next to the church building in my
first area. He got off on the wrong university by the wrong university, but I
totally knew where he was talking about and was able to give him directions. It
was cool because I knew where he was talking about in Southern California,
usually people will be talking about places and I will have no
clue.
Tuesday we had a really cool experience where we knocked on
a potentials door, and where chatting with him about his religious background,
and he was talking about how he was pretty well read, about the history of our
church, but not too much about what we believe. So we told him that if he
wanted to find out what we believe the Book of Mormon is a great place to
start. We asked him if we gave him a copy would he read it? And he hemmed and
hawed and said that he is super busy but he would probably get around to
reading it in the next month or so. Then we read the first paragraph of the
introduction and he said he probably be able to read it within the week. So we
closed with our testimony of the Book of Mormon and he said he would read the
introduction that day! It was amazing to see that as he learned more he became
more interested. We are excited to meet with him again.
We went out home teaching with the Ward Mission Leader and
he was teaching the family about Family Home Evening and he asked us to share
our experiences and so I was talking about how awesome it was and I shared when
we played red light, green light down that narrow hallway and it was hilarious.
Then I got a bit homesick which was sorta funny and sorta annoying. Looking
back I think, "what were you expecting moron?".
Also for those who know what scripture scouts are, in
companionship study Elder F was talking about how he was reading about
Alma and Amulek, and then I went off singing that one song "Alma and
Amulek deep inside..." so Sunday was a weird day.
Yet another great week though!
Happy Easter!
Elder Bearman
