New Companion & the Dentist
There was more but it didnt save my draft for some reason, i did not feel like rewriting the whole thing.
If you are in a dark cave and can see a light, hope is the light, no light, you have no hope, belief is understanding that reaching the light will bring good, and faith is the act of walking towards the light. Jesus Christ is that light, and faith is an action, you must DO something.
What does the spoken word do better than written word, and vice versa?
After 5 days, Elder M, seems great, he is a Chair Force [Air Force] kiddie, he loves planes, and is quite the way history buff. He came out on his mission from Georgia, but lived in Utah most his life, and is returning there. He also is a bit more adventurous than Elder BB with cooking, as in he actually cooks. He also has lots of stories, he reminds me alot of Jacob in that way. He is more a war and plane buff, while Jacob has got the politics down.
District meeting was super exciting. I had to play the piano, the sister who usually played went home, it was interesting...
But District meeting is always great because we get to talk about our investigators and ask for help and advice for them. Also we learned the power of FAITH. If we are like Nephi in 1 Nephi 3, and say I will go and do the things the Lord commands, than he will back us up. Which is great promise for us out here.
We also said goodbye to probably my favorite missionary, Elder N. He was from New Zealand and a complete beast. We would play basketball with him and he was hilariously athletic, but didn't play basketball very much, so he would always toast everyone but rarely make a basket.
We went to the dentist because I irritated my mouth sometime, so it swelled up, and so we got that checked out, it is fine, the swelling has gone down and it is all right.
In personal studies I had a big study on faith and works, and I learned that faith without works are dead, (James 2:17?) we need to let our works shine as an example (Matthew 5:16?), so clearly we need to work hard to show that we have faith. Just like a kid practicing the piano doesn't actually pay his mother back for lessons, our works don't get us back to heaven they show our appreciation.
Wednesday we had three hours of personal study because the transfer logistics fell through, someone didn't end up with there bike so Elder M wasn't dropped off until about 11:30. He actually started his mission in Hallmark and will probably finish here, he has 4 months left.
We learned that perfectionist are always failures, because humans aren't perfect, so if you don't like failing don't be a perfectionist.
Elder B's departure was sad, even more so for an 8 year old we have been teaching, he cried and was still super sad at our lesson on Saturday. But that is a mission I suppose.
We gave an investigator a blessing and she apparently was saying the whole ride home, that her fears and worries were all gone, and she didn't know why. We know why. Hopefully she can remember that, and figure out the cause.
Also we got up to Devore and met some less active members, some like very much so. It was sorta fun riding around the mountain roads when it was dark out (just before 7). We got to give a couple of potentials a try, one had no reply, the other and another was a nice lady who knew the members who lived next door. The ride down was pretty hair raising, we don't think Tiwi works up there in some places.
Hope you guys back home are enjoying school and work. Be nice to the missionaries in your area, we just want to talk.
